GREAT FIND!!

Hey drumcats,

Okay, I know you all are into these drum hero types, and I talk about newbies a ton but you MUST check this out.
Matthew Parrish's "Circles", released in 2001 on the Hipnotic Label. There are two tracks on here that no drummer in the world could have played better than Steve Hass. Doe-Lot(swings like MAD), and Miles' Seven Steps to Seven with a funk interlude and the bridge in double time 7. Or 7/8. If you can check it out somewhere online, let me know what you think. But it's worth having in your collection. It's down right beautiful drumming with serious attitude. Edge of your seat stuff!!! And you can tell he can play the Tony fills verbatum as he quotes them from time to time. WHOA! Really. Talk about under rated.

Hass would def qualify for the "UR" category AFA the "masses" go, but not AFA musicians who are "in the know" [& you folks in the City & surroundg areas!] [img]wink.gif[/img] ...a great player, for sure.

Thanks Rob, I just ordered via amazon. I have Steve playing on Miri Ben Ari's Temple Of Beautiful with Matthew on acoustic bass and Dave Kikoski on piano. I didn't know Matthew Parrish had his own release.
Here's one for you. Hass with Will Lee, Gil Goldstien and Lew Solof on The Manhattan Transfers' new one. "Vibrate". They do a version of TUTU where Hass not only nailed it in one take(you can hear him dropping a stick), but he also did all the drum loops. And there's a track on there called "First Ascent" where HASS reminds me a bit of Vince. I guess we all rip Vince off at one time or another! How can you not?
